Perfect for my smallest gchild
I have three grandchildren, (just turned) 6 girl, 4 boy, 2 boy.
Well the bigger two are totally comfortable with the iPad and have been so for years. Its hard to get it from their sticky little fingers sometimes.
The littlest always wants to imitate the bigger two and he is a real sweetie, running after them with his short fat legs. They wait but he wanted to be able to use the iPad by himself.
This program lets him. He uses only the dump truck one so far. What is interesting is how many times he will replay it in a given session. I can see him thinking about it as he plays it, over and over.
It demonstrates the huge divide between older and younger users, a divide often ignored by app writers. An app, to be successful for a very young child, needs to be simple and straight forward. The fewer details, the better. The easier for the child to get to the app, start it up an re-start it, these are essential and rare in child apps so far. He knows what he wants to do and doesnt need my help to do it.
After all, the little one has only ten or fifteen minutes until gma is going to kick his little bottom off the screen and into the back yard, so he needs to maximise his time.:)
